PROJECT PLAN
Kind Club visited eight local elementary schools to explain what constitutes bullying and the harmful effects of both cyberbullying and traditional bullying. The team hosted assemblies to educate students about bullying, and we conducted teambuilding activities to help students learn how to create positive relationships. Finally, we asked students to fill out a "Promise Card" and "Kind Cards." The "Promise Card" gives students an opportunity to take an action step in the name of kindness. They write down an action step that will promise to do on a daily basis to create change at their school, and in their lives. The "Kind Card" gives students the opportunity to give someone a compliment or give someone a positive shout-out.
We held assemblies at the following schools:
In addition, we interviewed students, teachers, and other staff members about how bullying has affected their lives. We administered a survey to students at our school and students at the elementary schools. Finally, we created a video highlighting important aspects of our project.

PROCESS
REFLECTION
We would have liked to reach out to more schools. We did not have time to do everything we hoped. For example, we wanted to interview more students, teachers, administrators and parents. Unfortunately, we were only able to interview teachers and staff at our school. We interviewed elementary students and some middle school students from our school. We were unable to interview parents. We also want to host an event where we invite all of the schools we visited to watch our video and share our project with them. Unfortunately, we will not have time to do that before our project is due, but we are still planning on hosting this event soon!
- From October to December we worked on our plan. We met every week on Wednesdays at school. We met in Ms. Berghoudian’s classroom or our school’s computer lab.
- We reached out to schools - eight out of ten agreed to allowing us to visit and speak to their students.
- We created our powerpoint presentation, and began practicing our parts. Six girls felt confident and wanted to present the material to the students, while four other students decided to film the assemblies and interview students about bullying.
- In February, we held our first assembly with sixth graders at our school site. The following week, we visited eight of the elementary schools. We rode a school bus and visited four schools per day, over the course of two school days.
- In March, we continued to interview students and staff members to learn more about their perspectives on bullying. In late March, we began to edit all of our video footage.
